Peace & Conflict Resolution
Political hotbeds have seen Youth who have lived together, gone to the same schools for many years suddenly turn swords against one another, killing and destroying property in senseless manners
For sound economic activities to thrive among the Youth, a strategy on reconciliation work have been developed for implemention in traditional violent spots. Special attention has been given to Nairobi, Nakuru, Eldoret, Kisumu, Mombasa and Naivasha among other areas. The current program of work which is dubbed Cleanliness for peace spans from October 2016 to September 2018. The general election is expected to take place in August 2017.
This is the most volatile period in the calender of the Kenyan Nation. The program looks into introducing a systematic peace building and peace management strategy way before 2012. A local media house with a huge appeal to the youth will be engaged for the purposes of reaching out to the vast Youth across the country. Work plans have been developed to allow the Youth take the forefront role of meeting and working with their peers across the tribal divide without feeling betrayed.
During this time, planned peace forums will be rolled out. The Youth will be allowed to engage their peers on issues of detecting anarchy early, avoiding it and maintaining peace as well as respecting human life and property. Collaboration with peer CSO,s, local Administrators/county leaders, Politicians as well as Faith Based Organizations (FBO) will be sought for involvement in the areas of program development, planning of activities and implementation.
This will help in the identification of unique challenges among the Youth leading to the development of specific mechanisms of intervention within each region.
