Goat rearing has been identified as most profitable compared to dairy cows. A single goat requires a small area - acreage- for foliage. Their management is also easy. They also boast a rapid population growth rate. A recent survey found out that there is an available big market for goat milk.
A special high breed goat- Pedigree and Appendix- which is available in some parts of the country produces 4 liters of milk per day. One liter of this type of milk has a market price of Kshs120/= locally.
Contact has been established with the source of this special breed for possible securing of the animals as soon as funds become available.
