Crime & Drug Abuse
Due to idleness and frustrations in relation to lack of economic opportunities, the Youth has turned to crime and drug use. The government and other agencies that were formed to fight drug use have struggled to fight this dilemma have reported mixed results with most admitting total failure in the fight. Law enforcement agencies report that 100% of all the people killed by police in armed robbery in 2009 were Youth alone. The majority of jailed Youth are wasting away in local prisons serving jail terms for committing economic crimes. This program identifies the need for counseling the Youth on behavior change.
- Involve and work with the Youth in developing social, institutional and physical programs that work towards crime prevention.
- Empower the Youth economically,
- Prioritize and target crime prone areas for intervention.
- Sensitize law enforcement agencies on the rights of young people and as well as creating ways that will ensure that innocent Youth are not victimized.
